Job Purpose

The position holder shall control and manage the Energy Opex for the network nodes spread out in the country through Innovation & best practices replication from India & otherwise. End-to-end planning and delivery of Energy cost, monitoring & analysis followed by roll-out of action plans in order to enable the organisation to become the lowest cost producer in the world.

Job Summary

To proficiently analyse smoke, blend and physical characteristics of tobacco and tobacco related products in the laboratory following ISO 17025 and Global BAT methodologies.

He/she should also keep accurate records that meet the requirements of the accreditation bodies and regulatory bodies.

The job holder also prepares flavours, casings, distilled water and performs crosscheck and calibrations of test equipment
 

Key Responsibilities

i. Operations/ Professional/ Business
  • Analyse and determine physical, smoke and blend characteristics of test items in accordance with documented quality management system.
  • Perform inter-laboratory comparison tests and ensure that the results are always within the limits set so as to assure the integrity of results reported to customers.
  • Perform Gas Chromatography
  • Prepare and formulate casings and flavours used in the manufacture of quality tobacco products.
  • Perform trend analysis on results and initiate corrective action.
  • Keep all records of activities performed in the laboratory from their original data to the final records as required by the laboratory management system in order to maintain an audit trail when necessary.
  • Ensure these records are maintained and stored in a secure place.
  • Calibrate testing equipment in accordance with the documented laboratory quality management system so as to ensure integrity of the results.
  • Inspect and analyse in-coming supplies to the laboratory to ensure that the laboratory only receives the best quality supplies and services that meets its specifications so as to enable it deliver quality service to its customers.
  • Prepare distilled water to the specifications stated in the Kenya Standard for distilled water.
  • Safeguard the integrity of test items, testing equipment, reference standards, reference materials, reagents, laboratory apparatus through secure storage and handling.

Job Summary

Proficiently perform quality sampling and testing of products in PMD or SMD, record accurate product quality results in a timely manner, record number of defectives, quarantine defective products and initiate corrective action.

The job holder is required to ensure that all manufactured products meet the customer and product requirements and to keep all work areas and equipment clean at all times.

Key Responsibilities

  • Continuously monitor visual and physical parameters for cigarettes, filters, packets and outers in accordance with the Finished Product Inspection (FPI) protocols, record all relevant information and take corrective measures as and when necessary/ continuously monitor tobacco parameters
  • Setup specifications in freeway/Visual Quality Displays (VQDs) system
  • Verify that the correct specification cards and materials are used in the production process.
  • Place beetle traps, monitor and recording beetle counts.
  • Ensure brand changes are properly executed
  • Issue correct product specification and dies to operators
  • Check RH as well as temperatures in the factory to ensure conditions are within prescribed limits
  • Report Non-conformance / faults found, in line with relevant protocol.
  • Crosscheck all equipment daily before use and document appropriately.
  • Maintain the work environment in a clean and safe state through proper housekeeping and 5S
  • Learn to check all machine detectors and interlocks by simulation to ensure their proper functioning.

The Electrical Technician ensures all electrical/electronic systems are safe to operate and in optimal condition.

The incumbent will carry out planned and corrective maintenance on electrical and electronics systems and installations including PLCs and factory instrumentation and pneumatic system to ensure maximum availability of equipment and utilities.

He will also ensure interlocks are in good working condition.

Key Responsibilities

i. Operations/ Professional/ Business
  • Troubleshoot and carry out repairs on production lines with the aim of reducing factory downtime.
  • Carry out planned maintenance on electrical plant equipment like vacuum pumps, boilers, compressors, generators, HV panels and Voltage Stabilisers.
  • Carry out a monthly audit on safety interlocks and carry out any necessary repair.
  • Carry out preventive maintenance of electrical components and equipment to reduce cost of spares.
  • Carry out electrical installations to 16th Edition of IEE regulation standards of BAT Co guidelines under supervision of the manager.
  • Checking motors for proper operation and servicing of the same in case of malfunction.
  • Keep accurate records of daily quality detector checklists (for PMD & SMD)
  • Work on radioactive mean weight control equipment during repairs or routine maintenance under the prescribed safety standards.
  • Proper house keeping by ensuring 5S is adhered to at the electrical workshops, cabinets, catalogues manuals and workplaces.
  • Keep accurate daily records/report of work done.

Job Description
1.    Responsible for ensuring that products processed are of the quality required for their intended use.
2.    Responsible for final release of products from one manufacturing stage to the other.
3.    Responsible for rejecting of products from proceeding to the next production process if it does not comply with the stated specifications.
4.    Responsible for all the production & QC documentation in the company.
5.    Ensuring that calibration and validation of production and laboratory equipments including balances, autoclaves, oven driers, mixing tanks, etc are done on schedule basis.
6.    Ensuring there is continuous training of production and Q.C personnel in act as a GMP administrator.
7.    Ensuring that the calibration and validation records are maintained and up-dated and validation of the air and water production systems, a septic filling and Q.C analytical procedures are performed.
8.    Ensuring that customer’s complaints related to the quality of the product are well handled and records maintained.
9.    Ensuring that monitoring and performing continuous stability studies of the products are done and records maintained.
10.  Ensuring that product recalls to the quality of the product are well handled.
11.  Responsible for follow-up of health and safety matters with relevant authorities.
12.  Responsible for co-ordinating medical examination of personnel with the company doctor and keeping personnel files.

20.  Responsible for ensuring all relevant sops are in place and reviewed periodically as per requirements.
21.  Ensuring that maintenance and testing of equipments like balances are done and records maintained.
22.  Ensuring that validation of analytical procedures used in quality control are performed.
23.  ensuring that procedures for monitoring of the environmental parameter in the sterile area including viable micro-organisms, air speeds, air changes and particle size are available and records maintained.
24.  ensuring that sterility tests for the sterile area in microbiology areas are done and records maintained
25.  Ensuring that laboratory microorganisms are well maintained to assure suitability for microbial testing. The micro-organisms should be identified and adequate records maintained showing history of their use
26.  Ensuring that products are designed and developed in a way that takes account of the requirement of c GMP.
27.  ensuring that laboratory records which include complete data derived from all tests necessary to assure compliance with established specifications and standards, including examinations, essays, etc are prepared and complied to.
28.  responsible for the pest control department and production departments are running their requirements and schedule as required
 
Ideal candidate
·         Must have  done a Degree in Pharmacy or
·         Must Have a Diploma in Pharmacy and with a hand-on the job experience of over 5yrs in the same field.
·         Concrete experience with a busy manufacturing company is an added advantage especially in the quality assurance department.
·         Must be very sharp and keen to details; analytically smart.
·         Good report writing skills required.

·         Familiarity with international health and safety practices
·         Good communication skills.
