Country: Kenya
Location: Kiambiu, Mathare, Kibera and Mukuru urban settlements, Nairobi, Kenya.
Project to be evaluated: “Improving the food security situation of vulnerable urban population affected by the food crisis in Kenya”
Starting date: 10th November, 2010 (17 days consultancy)
Duration of the field work: 10 days
Time dedicated to the desk review: 2 days
Time dedicated to report writing: 5 days
Funding Sources for the evaluation: EuropeAid / AFD
Presentation of the project to be evaluated
The current food security project began in January 2010. It targets four informal settlements in Nairobi, namely Kibera, Mathare, Kiambiu and Mukuru-Lungalunga. The project has three main components: Garden-in-a-sack, small scale greenhouse production and poultry rearing.
