JRS has a priority to work wherever the needs of displaced people are urgent and unattended by others, and offers a human service to refugees and the communities through a wide range of rehabilitation and relief activities most of which centre around formal and informal education needs.Location: Kenya – Kakuma
Overall responsibility:
• This is a position based at the JRS Offices at Kakuma Refugee Camp. The holder will manage, administers and maintain the organization information system including servers, computers equipment, internet, firewall, e-mail and file servers, and local and wide area networks installations at the JRS Offices and Learning facilities.
• In addition the Job holder will be expected to be the primary technical liaison person for the JRS e-learning programme.
• Job holder is also expected to be knowledgeable in Generator and Solar power systems and capable of supporting its installation and maintenance.
Key Responsibility Areas:
1. Manages the Organization information system including hardware, software and networks.
2. Assesses current and future data processing needs for the organization users jointly with the organization management with a view to either modify existing systems and writes/installs or recommends new programs and hardware to meet user needs.
3. Assures system documentation by directing the writing of detailed descriptions of the system components in the organization.
4. Supervises the training of user department personnel in the use of PC’s, terminals, printers and other peripherals in addition to the program applications installed.
5. Inducting and orientating new personnel in the department on company’s policies and procedures.
6. Ensuring Security and uptime of mail and file servers and other communication servers.
7. Liaising with the ISP support to ensure continuous availability of computer-based communication
8. Network optimization to ensure that network does not become an operational bottleneck
9. Compiling and filing daily assets status reports and incidence as relates to IT department and forwarding the compiled and analyzed report to the superiors’
10. Timely feedback on newly implemented systems
11. Clear communication with the Regis person (downloading courses, server, etc.).
12. Work with students as well and help students with operational questions.
13. Any other responsibilities assigned by JRS management.
