Location: Kenya - Nairobi

CARE USA is seeking a seasoned Regional HRBP (Human Resources Business Partner) to provide high quality professional HR support to CARE’s East & Central Africa region.

His/her primary responsibility is to enhance and support Talent Management in the region.

This includes conducting and/or supporting talent assessments, reviews and development and succession planning.

This also includes championing Gender Equity and Diversity (GED) initiatives and goals in the region.

The GHRBP will consult with and support the Regional Director on region-wide business priorities, will provide support to international staff assigned to the region.

He/she will partner with the Deputy Regional Director Program Support and Human Resources in COs to enhance HR services and encourage consistent global standards appropriate to the region and the Country Office.

He/she will work with the staff in his/her assigned region consistent with the strategy and priorities set for international staff worldwide.

He/she will also support global HR initiatives such as HR Global Standards, HR technology, etc.

Principal Responsibilities:
  • Responsible for the full scope of Talent Management in the region
  • Work closely with Regional Director to form HR priorities for the region to support the business
  • Provide high quality, professional HR services to international staff
  • Work directly with Country Directors, DRDPS and HR people in COs to increase the level of HR support to CARE people
  • As a member of the global HRBP, take part in global HR activities and priorities as determined in Atlanta
Required Skills:
  • University degree
  • HR professional familiar with all laws and standards for HR in the United States (because of the international staff responsibilities) and exposure to HR in the context of the COs where he/she will be located
  • Skilled recruitment and training skills are required
  • Must speak fluent English and the primary language of the region he/she is assigned
  • Experienced at building relationships
  • Exceptional at educating and moving other towards a successful conclusion
  • Strong project management, diagnostic and consulting skills
  • Strong, proven presentation skills
  • Ability to think strategically and systematically
  • Coaching skills including the ability to establish trusting and open relationships with employees
  • Working knowledge of formal and informal individual group assessment methods
  • Knowledge of CARE's culture and structure
  • An ability to introduce staff development processes to diverse populations.
Desired Skills:
  • Globally recognized HR certification
  • Certified in Hay job evaluation or other similar tool
  • 5-7 years of broad human resources experience in a global organization
Anticipated Start Date: October 2010

Status: Regular Full Time

Location: Nairobi, Kenya

Expected percentage of time traveling: 50-60%
