Job Description

Our client is a leading ICT solutions provider to the Internet community which focuses on facilitating the growth of the Internet subsector and fosters the uptake of ICT in the country.

We are seeking a visionary, self-driven Chief Executive Officer for this hands-on role to lead a small team to achieve this mandate.

This position will be broad in scope – providing strategic business planning, executing strategy and day-to-day operational leadership.

The successful individual will work under the guidance of the board of directors to develop and implement the strategic plan, directing the organisation towards continuous growth. She/he will thrive on building strong relationships and have a reputation for establishing effective partnerships and joint ventures as well as being a collaborative influence.

Job Details

Key Responsibilities

1.  Coordinate and manage the day-to-day running of the organization based on the organization’s policy
2.  Coordinate the development and implementation of the organization’s strategic plan
3.  Provide strategic direction for the organization
4.  Ensure that organization is consistently and positively presented to relevant stakeholders
5.  Act as a liaison between the organization and the internet community, building relationships with peer organizations where appropriate
6.  Act as spokesperson for the organization in local and international forums
7.  Coordinate the development of mechanisms and strategies for operation and promotion of the organization’s products and services
8.  Ensure the financial well being of the organization and ensure that the organization adheres to statutory obligations
9.  Prepare and present reports and Board papers to the Board of Directors
10.  Lead, inspire and motivate the organization’s staff
11.  Coordinate training and development of staff
12.  Perform any other duties that may be assigned by the Board of Directors

Essential Skills & Knowledge:

•  A Masters degree in a relevant discipline
•  At least five (5) years experience in the Internet and/or telecommunications industry
•  Essential CEO skills including: leadership, strategic planning, financial management, coaching, administrative, negotiation and marketing;
•  An ability to prepare and analyze business plans, financial forecasts, feasibility studies etc. for presentation to boards of directors, potential business partners and stakeholders;
•  Excellent listening, verbal and written communication as well as interpersonal skills;
•  Demonstrated tact and diplomacy as well as sound judgment and decision making skills;
•  The ability to formulate and execute major policies, programs and objectives to promote and ensure accountability, transparency and the organization’s sustainability and profitability.
