Job Title: Admin/Finance Assistant: Duty Station: Nairobi

Post Grade: ICS 5 – (Fixed Term – 1 year)

IRIN a leading provider of multimedia humanitarian news and analysis (www.irinnews.org) is seeking applications from Kenyan nationals for the above post. Female candidates are strongly encouraged to apply.

Under the guidance and supervision of the Admin/Finance Officer, the Admin/Finance Assistant provides financial, procurement and asset management services ensuring high quality, accuracy and consistency of work. The Admin/Finance Assistant promotes a client-oriented approach consistent with UN/UNDP rules and regulations.

The Admin/Finance Assistant works in close collaboration with the UNOCHA/IRIN Nairobi staff and UN/UNDP CO staff to exchange information and ensure consistent service delivery.

* Implementation of operational strategies
* Accounting and administrative support
* Support of procurement processes
* Support to asset management
* Support to knowledge building and knowledge sharing

Qualifications, experience and Language:-
Required is secondary Education with specialized certification in Accounting and Finance/procurement. University Degree in Business or Public Administration desirable, but it is not a requirement.

5 years of relevant finance/procurement experience at the national or international level is required. Experience in the usage of computers and office software packages (MS Word, Excel, etc) and knowledge of spreadsheet and database packages, experience in handling of web based management systems.

Fluency in written and spoken English is required and a working knowledge of French or another UN language would be an added advantage.
