A large Engineering Firm in Mombasa is seeking to recruit a Safety Officer. The key responsibilities for this role are as follows:
1. Ensuring compliance with the company safety plan including: -
o That the safety procedures are followed.
o That employees are in their safety gears while working.
o That safety gears are kept reasonably cleans and tidy by every employee.
o Carrying out regular audits and spot-checks on all safety aspects and ensuring appropriate corrective action is taken as necessary.
o That co-ordination with site supervisors is maintained regarding safety procedures and any other vital information.
o Safety posters will be placed at strategic points indicating safety procedures required.
o That minimum levels of safety training and awareness are attained by each employee and records kept.
2. He will be responsible for: -
o The Company’s Safety Plan.
o First Aid activities and equipment.
o Fire fighting appliances and Fire Plan.
o Safety Training and Awareness.
o Pollution control.
o Accident investigation / report.
o Disaster response operation.
o Safety gears issuance, monitoring and care.
o Any other duties as may from time to time be deemed fit by the management.
The Minimum qualification for this role is:
o Diploma in health, safety and environment field or engineering field.
o At least one year experience in safety matters field
o Good communication skills, good in book/record keeping.
o Fluent in Kiswahili and English both spoken and written
o Having undertaken a first aid course shall be an added advantage.
