Our client The British High Commission Kampala (BHC) and The Department for Inter-national Development Uganda (DFID) is seeking to recruit a dynamic, experienced and adaptable individual to join their team. The BHC and DFID are both Departments of the UK government with operations in Uganda.
The Head of Corporate Services will provide leadership and management of the BHC/DFID Joint Management Unit (JMU) and will be responsible for the effective implementation of the BHC and DFIDs human resources strategies, estates, finance, procurement and transport policies and will have oversight for the safety and security of staff.
The JMU is a new venture which aims to bring together the corporate service functions of the BHC and DFID. Reporting to the Country Director, the successful candidate will be responsible for improving the quality of the country programme by:
* Providing technical assistance, direction, support and oversight to achieve total quality;
* Playing a key role in the overall leadership and direction of the organization as a member of the senior management team;
* Coordinating the design and review of the organization's strategy and annual plans to ensure maximum impact of program activities;
* Facilitating the development and timely submission of quality project proposals to donors;
* Supporting the country team in identifying new project initiatives and writing concept papers and proposals in line with the program strategy
* Defining the Monitoring & Evaluation standards as well as key performance indicators for all programmes
* Encouraging a culture of reflection, impact measurement, and impact-evidence generation in programmes
* Vetting all programmes for quality and relevance to national policy frameworks; as well as compliance with donor requirements
* Identifying staff and programme skills gaps and recommending appropriate ways of addressing these;
* Facilitating research into what other NGOs are doing locally; determining best practice and incorporating it into the program.

The International Development Law Organization (IDLO) has been providing training and technical assistance to the Kenyan legal and judicial sector for over 20 years, including: training for over 230 Kenyan legal professionals and government officials; technical assistance in forming a Kenyan NGO whose mandate is to continue providing legal training for others; technical assistance in the establishment of the Kenyan Judicial Training Institute and ongoing training technical assistance to the Kenya Investment Authority.
Most recently, IDLO provided assistance to the Committee of Experts on Constitutional Review in the design and drafting of the draft Constitution. Subsequently, and in partnership with a range of civil society organizations, IDLO undertook civic education initiatives to prepare for the Constitutional referendum.
