The HIV Program carries out HIV AIDS vaccine and therapeutic research studies and supports HIV prevention, care and treatment programs in southern Rift Valley.

Laboratory Technologist

Key Duties and Responsibilities:

Duties of an officer in this position will include separation, aliquoting and archiving of patient serum / plasma for long term frozen storage.

He/she will document and maintain sample processing records and enter the aliquoted and archived sample into a database for easy retrieval.

The officer will also prepare solutions, reagents and stains in accordance with standard laboratory formulas and procedures.

He/she will be expected to operate basic laboratory equipment such as centrifuge, analytical balance and pH meter.

The officer will maintain and make minor adjustments to equipments e.g. calibration and alignment. The officer may also be called upon to collect blood and other samples from patients.

He/she will record and compile daily readings on all temperature controlled laboratory equipment and areas and maintain laboratory freezers and fridges.

He/she will be expected to comply with all relevant safety and infection control policies and procedures and ensures tidiness of laboratory rooms and benches.

Resource Mobilization Advisor

Reporting to the Chief Executive Officer, the Resource Mobilization Advisor will provide overall technical guidance for mobilizing adequate resources both nationally and internationally to enhance the volume of funds and stream line the flow to meet KEMSA needs as well as establish and nurture partnerships with stakeholders.

Main Responsibilities

    - Develop and implement a resource mobilizing strategy for KEMSA, establish targets and funding sources
    - Project the financing gaps for KEMSA and mobilize resources from COK, bilateral and multilateral donors, philanthropic foundations, and other sources
    - Assist in streamlining the preparation of proposals for donor funding across all KEMSA programs
    - Lead and conduct market research to identify opportunities for resource mobilization and stakeholders' opinions and practices
    - Maintain updated information on current and potential sources of funding
    - Establish donor audit and financial reporting requirements and ensure compliance and timely submission
    - As the focal contact person assist in management of donor relationships
    - Develop and disseminate to relevant partners quarterly supply chain for public health resource mobilization matrix
    - Work closely with the Public Relations Officer in implementing the organization's communication strategies
    - Ensure documentation and reporting of KEMSA's ongoing projects activities to financiers
    - Negotiating and managing funding agreements with the financiers
    - Monitor resource allocated throughout the implementation and reporting cycle

The Position
ILRI seeks to recruit an Accountant-Staff Accounts. 

Responsibilities
1. Staff Accounts
o Ensure that there is strict monitoring of old and new staff accounts and send monthly reminders to staff whose balances on travel advances/imprest/expenses are not accounted for;
o With authorization from the General Accounts Manager, submit a list to payroll for staff deductions where balances are not settled on time; Prepare a monthly analysis of the staff accounts based on the expense categories and prepare an age analysis report;
o Open and close staff bank accounts and periodically verify their status with Human Resources;
o Verify all payment requests by staff to ascertain the availability of funds in their staff accounts;
o Ensure that staff loans, medical expenses and any other staff deductions are done on time and other personal expenses arising from recharges are submitted to payroll in time for deduction.

2. Mission Travel
o Daily process staff Mission Travel Advances and Field Imprests in accordance with the ILRI Travel Policy guidelines;
o Process on a timely basis all travel expense reports by ensuring they are expense correctly to the appropriate expense codes, cost centre and grant code;
o Ensure staff/travelers are given copies of the final calculations of their travel expense claims being posted to their personal account;
o Daily communicate with staff, advising the status of their personal accounts and address staff questions.

3. Third-Party Invoicing
o Receive information from service units/service provider and prepare the invoice for the General Accounts Manager’s approval;
o Post all invoices to the receivable account and assist the service unit managers to dispatch the invoices and follow up payments by the organization.

4. CIP and ISAAA Hosted Institutions’ Accounts
* Monthly review of CIP and ISAAA accounts and send statements to budget holders;
* Monthly invoice and allocate payments made into the two accounts.
