Job Title: Accountant
Reports to: Chief Accountant

Computer skills: High proficiency in IT with extensive experience working with accounting systems and spreadsheets. Knowledge and use of SAP Business One will be an added advantage.

Key Duties and Responsibilities
o Custodian of the company cheque books and bank documentation
o Prompt payment of creditors
o Perform monthly bank reconciliation
o Preparation of monthly management accounts and draft of final books of accounts
o Assist in the implementation of internal controls within financial and administrative circles of the company
o To ensure prompt payment of statutory deductions to the relevant authorities
o Draw up VAT analysis and submission/payment of monthly returns
o Preparation and maintenance of the company’s fixed assets register
o Assist in drafting of internal budgets and cash flow projections
o Perform day-to-day cash managemento Liaise with external auditors
o Maintenance and preparation of fixed asset schedule
o Management and supervision of petty cash
o Debtors and creditors analysis

Person Specification:
Assertive, results-oriented with a positive attitude and mature outlook. Ideal candidate would be a natural forward planner who wants responsibility and accountability. Well organized, presented and businesslike with fantastic interpersonal skills and the ability to work with people of different backgrounds and cultures. Good time management skills.

Academic level needed: Bachelors Degree in Business and a professional certificate in accounting such as CPA or ACCA

Qualities: Good Communication skills, numerical skills, time management and team player.

CARE USA is seeking a seasoned Regional HRBP (Human Resources Business Partner) to provide high quality professional HR support to CARE’s East & Central Africa region.

His/her primary responsibility is to enhance and support Talent Management in the region.

This includes conducting and/or supporting talent assessments, reviews and development and succession planning.

This also includes championing Gender Equity and Diversity (GED) initiatives and goals in the region.

The GHRBP will consult with and support the Regional Director on region-wide business priorities, will provide support to international staff assigned to the region.

He/she will partner with the Deputy Regional Director Program Support and Human Resources in COs to enhance HR services and encourage consistent global standards appropriate to the region and the Country Office.

He/she will work with the staff in his/her assigned region consistent with the strategy and priorities set for international staff worldwide.

He/she will also support global HR initiatives such as HR Global Standards, HR technology, etc.

Principal Responsibilities:
  • Responsible for the full scope of Talent Management in the region
  • Work closely with Regional Director to form HR priorities for the region to support the business
  • Provide high quality, professional HR services to international staff
  • Work directly with Country Directors, DRDPS and HR people in COs to increase the level of HR support to CARE people
  • As a member of the global HRBP, take part in global HR activities and priorities as determined in Atlanta
Required Skills:
  • University degree
  • HR professional familiar with all laws and standards for HR in the United States (because of the international staff responsibilities) and exposure to HR in the context of the COs where he/she will be located
  • Skilled recruitment and training skills are required
  • Must speak fluent English and the primary language of the region he/she is assigned
  • Experienced at building relationships
  • Exceptional at educating and moving other towards a successful conclusion
  • Strong project management, diagnostic and consulting skills
  • Strong, proven presentation skills
  • Ability to think strategically and systematically
  • Coaching skills including the ability to establish trusting and open relationships with employees
  • Working knowledge of formal and informal individual group assessment methods
  • Knowledge of CARE's culture and structure
  • An ability to introduce staff development processes to diverse populations.
Desired Skills:
  • Globally recognized HR certification
  • Certified in Hay job evaluation or other similar tool
  • 5-7 years of broad human resources experience in a global organization

Knowledge, skills and experience:
  • Degree in Sociology, Education or any other relevant development - related field
  • Sound knowledge of education policies, strategies and practices at national and international level
  • Minimum 4 years working experience in project planning, monitoring and assessment of programmes and projects in an intergovernmental organisation context.
  • Experience working and partnering with Ministries, Donor Agencies and international NGO’s and an understanding of sector wide approaches
  • Experience of designing, managing and providing support to Programmes, including capacity/ institutional development, policy development and financial management.

The Team Leader should meet the following qualifications:
  • Advanced degree in Humanitarian Law, International Law or International Development with a focus on Migration
  • Minimum of 15 years of managing international development programs including experience with humanitarian assistance, vulnerable groups and/or, refugees with a focus on education, livelihoods and protection (required)
  • Minimum of 5-7 experience designing and implementing M&E results frameworks and monitoring large donor programs (required)
  • Experience working in East Africa or Kenya (required)
  • Experience working in Latin America and the Caribbean and/or Ecuador (preferred)
  • Detail oriented and organized
  • Strong communicator, both verbally and in writing
