Mexico Government Scholarships for Postgraduates for 2011

The Mexico government has offered four (4) scholarships (Masters 2, PhD 2) to eligible Kenyans for postgraduate studies. The courses are in Renewable energy, computer science and technology

Eligibility

Eligible candidates are only those who:

   1. Are serving the country in the Public Sector.
   2. Completed two (2) years of continuous service since their last degree studies
   3. Graduated in the last ten (10) years
   4. Are below 34 years for Masters and 44 years old for PhD. Programmes.
   5. Prior knowledge of Spanish language, if not the candidates will learn the language for four (4) Months before commencing on the programme.

A scholarship for African scientists

The Africa London Nagasaki Scholarship Fund has been set up to support African scientists building a career in infectious disease research.

The scholarship will allow African researchers to undertake an MSc in a subject relevant to the control of infectious disease in the developing world at either the Institute of Tropical Medicine, Nagasaki University, Japan (NEKKEN) or at the London School of Hygiene & Tropical Medicine, London, UK (LSHTM).

Successful applicants will receive a maximum of US$50,000 each to cover tuition fees, travel and living expenses. The fund will support up to four scholarships per year.

Applicants must be of African nationality and normally be resident in sub-Saharan Africa. They must have a first or upper second class BSc degree (or equivalent) in a relevant area and will usually have at least two years prior research experience.

Candidates who apply to study in Japan must have a medical qualification. More details about the nature of the scholarship fund, eligibility criteria and on how to apply can be found on www.alnscholarshipfund.org.

The application deadline is Friday 29 October 2010.

University of Nairobi Gandhi Smarak Nidhi Fund - Postgraduate Scholarship: 2010/ 2011 Academic Year

The Gandhi Smarak Nidhi fund will offer a limited number of partial scholarships tenable at the University of Nairobi, for Masters and Postgraduate Diploma studies during the 2010/2011 academic year.

Interested candidates are invited to apply for the scholarship by filling in a formal application/re-application form available in Room A112 Administration Block, Main Campus after presenting a receipt of a non-refundable application fees of Kenya Shillings Five Hundred Only (KShs. 500.00).

This amount should be deposited into the University of Nairobi Account No.03-094-8245531, Barclays Bank of Kenya - Queensway House Branch at any Barclays Bank of Kenya branch. The bank deposit slip should then be taken to the Student Finance Office (Room G4), for receipting.

Applicants must attach to the completed form a letter of offer (Notice of eligibility) to study at the University of Nairobi for a Masters/Postgraduate Diploma (not PhD) course and must have attained at least an Upper Second Class Honours or its equivalent at Bachelors Level.

Completed application forms may be send to the Secretary, Gandhi Smarak Nidhi Fund, University of Nairobi, P. O. Box 30197 -00100 G.P.O. Nairobi, or delivered to Room A112 Administration Block, Main Campus so as to reach by Friday August 6,2010.
