The World Bank, the leading multilateral institution in global economic development, is seeking applications for the position of an Accounting Assistant. This is a local position based in the Bank’s office in Abuja, Nigeria
POSITION
The Accounting Assistant will be a member of the World Bank’s Resource Management team recruited locally.
The incumbent in this position works under the guidance of senior team members, on detailed issues, using-accuracy and attention to details in order to meet the country office’s need for timely processing and reporting of day-to-day RM work program. Uses working knowledge of daily Bank procedures to ensure day-to-day RM work program is completed effectively and efficiently, working as needed with others in the team or in other Bank unit.
RESPONSIBILITIES
The Accounting Assistant will be responsible for:
Financial Accounting
Processes accurately and promptly all accounting transactions, including payroll, operating expenses, procurement, travel, consultant payments, vendor payments, charge backs and other like running expenses. Processes transactions in the Asset Management module for office and residence inventories;
Maintain account reconciled at any given point in time. Regularly reviews the open item accounts and resolves any outstanding items; keeps relevant documents and invoices systematically to fully support the accounts;
Performs bank account reconciliation and reviews cash flow and replenishment needs.
Interacts with clients both inside and outside the Bank. e.g. staff, consultants, vendors, etc, to effect timely payments and resolve accounting related issues:
Assists in planning and monitoring budget and expenses linked to country office work program;
Provides references to bank’s financial ,and administrative policies and procedures in administrative expense related subject areas;

BRANCH MANAGERS
Job Summary
Reporting to the Head of Retail & SME Banking, the position will be responsible for providing
operational support on credit issues and assume accountability for the business credit
applications, development and follow up with Relationship Managers and Credit Department.
Responsibilities
•Laying strategies to develop and increase sales volumes while enforcing compliance to
the Bank’s policies, procedures and work instructions including regulatory
requirements.
•Carry out and oversee general administrative, operational and HR duties in the Branch
including managing staff on KYC/AML Policies.
•Manage operational risk for the branch to prevent losses and other associated risks
•Market the Bank’s products to ensure growth in the Asset and Liability book.
•Ensure excellent customer service by continuously reviewing and maintaining efficient
and customer focused processes.
•Implementation of plans for customer retention and effective delivery of products and
services to existing business customers.
•Identifying opportunities for selling and cross-selling of the Bank’s products to
customize our market share.
•Developing and implementing sales plans/activities to acquire profitable business
relationships between the Bank and its customers.
•Maintaining existing client relationships, attending to client’s needs and managing their
expectations.
•Pro-actively managing costs by monitoring expenditure against productivity and
budgets
•Providing leadership and guidance to the Branch staff including their development and
welfare.
•In line with the sales approach the Bank has taken up, the Branch Manager position has
been enhanced to focus more on sales. The objectives have been set at 80% on sales
and 20% on operations management.
Requirements
•A Bachelor of Commerce, Finance or Accounting degree from a recognized university.
•Professional qualification – Diploma in Banking (AKIB)
•Holders of CPA (K), CPS, CFA, CISA will have an added advantage.
•Minimum seven years banking experience, with at least three years working experience
in senior positions in retail/corporate relationship management and branch management.

CREDIT ADMINISTRATION MANAGER
Reporting to the Head of Credit, the successful candidate will be responsible for planning, directing and controlling the operations of the credit administration unit in order to ensure that the credit portfolio is properly managed.
Key responsibilities
• Ensure that offer letters are appropriately drawn and conform to approval conditions.
• Ensure that the Bank’s securities are perfected in all respects.
• Ensure safe custody of all the security documents.
• Monthly review of the portfolio and generation of the appropriate management reports.
• Management of the non-performing accounts, arrears and excesses position.
• Responsible for timely and accurate credit reports to Central Bank of Kenya, Credit Committee, Board of Directors, External Auditors and Credit Reference Bureau
• Maintain an effective Early Warning reporting System
Qualifications and Competencies
• Holder of Bachelors degree in a business related field. Professional banking qualifications will be added advantage.

CREDIT OFFICER
The Credit Officer will responsible for analysis and appraisal of credit applications.
Key responsibilities
• Carry out credit appraisal, risk analysis vetting of proposals and making appropriate recommendations.
• Carry out account relationship management role for credit customers.
• Carry out credit administration duties regarding accounts within portfolio and ensure compliance to lending covenants.
• Maintain close follow up on borrowing clients facing loan repayment difficulties and recommend measures for rehabilitation and/or recovery of debts.
• Liaise with Branch Manager, lawyers, auctioneers, private investigators and valuers acting on Bank’s instructions to ensure close follow up is maintained on recovery of irregular debt.
• Prepare letters of offer and letters of guarantee.
• Review performance of customer facilities and make appropriate recommendations regarding non-performing facilities.
• Revision of revenue payable to Bank by customers to ensure that proper rates/charges are applied viz. negotiation fees, interest rates etc.

Main Duties:
* Facilitate the implementation of challenging business plans/strategies through effective recruitment and deployment of staff in allocated divisions;

* Age — 35 years or below.
